Millions of tonnes of food is being wasted by UK businesses – helping fuel climate crisis, food inflation and hunger.
About half of the UK’s food waste happens in businesses, but most food businesses are keeping their food waste secret. This means we have no idea how much food is actually wasted, and stops us meaningfully tackling it.
A vital new food waste law would break the deadlock, by making businesses publish their food waste.
But disgracefully, the government recently u-turned and scrapped plans for this vital food waste law – despite 99% of consultation responses including the majority of businesses supporting it. Now a group of MPs are standing up for food waste action – will you ask your MP to join them?
The more MPs we get on-side, the more pressure we can raise to overturn the government’s opposition to this common-sense policy.
